Who builds Quarterly Filer
Quarterly Filer is built and run by an independent software developer, not a large firm or a call centre. It began with a simple frustration: Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is compulsory for a growing number of sole traders and landlords, yet the existing tools were either expensive accounting platforms aimed at businesses or fiddly bridging spreadsheets. A lot of ordinary people just need to send HMRC four quarterly summaries and a year-end declaration, cleanly and cheaply.
So that is what Quarterly Filer does, and nothing it does not need to. Being small keeps it focused: every feature exists because a real self-employed person or landlord needs it to stay compliant, not because it looked good on a feature list.
What Quarterly Filer does
Quarterly Filer connects to your HMRC account, takes your income and expense figures from a spreadsheet or from figures you enter directly, and files your quarterly updates and final declaration for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax. You review every figure before anything is sent, so you are always in control.

Where we stand with HMRC
We want to be straight about this. Quarterly Filer is built to HMRC's Making Tax Digital for Income Tax specification and connects through HMRC's official Making Tax Digital service, so your updates and final declaration go to HMRC directly and securely. We are currently completing HMRC's recognition process.
We will never claim to be something we are not. When our recognition is confirmed, we will say so plainly, and until then we describe our status exactly as it is.

Filing tax to HMRC is a serious thing to hand to a piece of software, so we keep the important parts simple and transparent. We use HMRC's own secure login rather than storing your HMRC password. Your data is stored securely and used only to prepare and file your tax updates. We never sell your data, and our privacy policy sets out exactly what we collect and the rights you have over it.
Pricing is deliberately plain: £49 a year covers your whole tax year, or £18 for a single one-off submission, with your first submission free and no long contract. If Quarterly Filer is not right for you, you can leave at any time and still request a copy of your records.
